The newly opened Nimmo – Padum – Darcha NDP road offers guests the opportunity to witness beautiful landscapes adorned by ancient monasteries and dotted with ancient villages. The wonderfully beautiful Zanskar Valley has always been known for its breathtaking mountain landscapes and remote, ancient villages. The ancient monasteries in Zanskar are often built around cliff-top meditation caves, preserving an archaic form of Buddhism. This tour allows you to enjoy the different cultures of Himachal and Ladakh.
Detailed Itinerary
- Day 1: Drive from Manali to Purne Zanskar (120 km, 6 hours). Cross Atal Tunnel, Rotang Valley, Lahaul Valley, and Shingo La Pass (5150 meters). Enjoy the view of Gonbo Rangjon, a holy mountain. Overnight in Purne.
- Day 2: Drive Purne to Padum (55 km, 3 hours). Optional visit to Phuktal Monastery. Drive along the Tsarap River and visit Mune and Barden Monasteries. Overnight in Padum.
- Day 3: Local sightseeing in Padum. Visit Karsha Monastery, Stongdey Monastery, Sani Lake, and Shilla Waterfall. Overnight in Padum.
- Day 4: Drive Padum to Leh (330 km, 9 hours). Cross Singela and Sirsirla passes. Enjoy beautiful views along the way. Overnight in Leh.
- Day 5: Transfer to Leh Airport for departure.
