Overview of Zanskar
Zanskar – Zangskar is the ancient kingdom in UT Ladakh and also one of the oldest Sub-divisions from the colonial era. Zangs means white Copper, Kar means white. Also known as white copper.
Zanskar or Zangkar covers an area of some 7,000 square kilometres (2,700 sq mi), at an elevation of 3,500-7,135 metres (11,500–23,409 feet). It consists of the country lying along the two main branches of the Zanskar River.

We provide doctor-on-call services, oxygen cylinders, first aid kits, and medications for your safety and comfort.
Altitude Sickness / Acclimatization
Please guard against altitude sickness, especially just after your arrival in Ladakh. Take a rest/nap for 2-3 hours immediately after your arrival. Fluid intake is essential during this period, and the body must be given a few days to acclimatize to the altitude. Spicy and oily foods are best avoided.
